It is not hard to see why settlers who came for the Colorado gold rush, stayed to live beneath the gorgeous Rocky Mountain views. Agriculture became a living and lifestyle in the 1880s thanks to the resources of the Big and Little Thompson rivers as well as the establishment of the Colorado Central Railroad. As agriculture flourished, the town thrived and became established and incorporated in 1888. 1920 brought the paved highway system of 287 which connected Berthoud to towns to the north and south, which is how it remains today. Downtown Berthoud is a quintessential small town with local shops and historic sites, quiet tree lined streets and parks. From this classic small town, two interstates provide access to Denver International Airport,  Rocky Mountain National Park, Fort Collins, and major ski areas. Berthoud is governed by elected officials; a mayor and five trustees serve on the governing board, many of whom are natives of the area.

Berthoud provides a quiet, small town lifestyle while having access to any activity or adventure that can be dreamed of.
